Cellist Jeremiah Barcus came to Boston in 2009 and has taken part in several chamber groups with a wide array of genres. He is the cellist in the Videri String Quartet, which plays video game music in a classical style. With Videri, he has toured across the United States, giving concerts in Boston, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston (TX), as well as being in the Fellowship Quartet at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Cello Performance from New England Conservatory, a Masters Degree in Cello Performance at the Boston Conservatory, and a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. As well as maintaining a thriving private studio, he is on the cello faculty at German International School Boston and the Edward Devotion School.
Japanese pianist Rui Urayama’s gifts were recognized at an early age. By the age of 18, she had already won prizes at main competitions in Japan. She received the Kyoto Musical Association Award, given to the most gifted young musician of the year when she graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts (BM). In 2011, she moved to America where she earned her MM and Artist Diploma on full scholarship at Boston Conservatory, studying with Michael Lewin. She later moved on to win the Grand Prix of the 2013 PTNA competition in Japan, the country’s most prestigious competition. As a result of this honor, she was invited to perform extensively in Asia, and Europe. In the USA, she also won the Silver Medal in the Hartford Chopin International Competition in 2013, which helped to forward her career in America. She holds a number of awards, including the St. Botolph Club Emerging Artist Award, Meiji-Yasuda Quality of Life Sponsorship, Churchill Piano Awards, Tokyo City Philharmonic Award, and Minister of Arts and Culture Award. Currently, she works as a stuff accompanist at Boston Conservatory, also she teaches at Key Notes School of Music and Edward Devotion School. As her unique project, she does piano solo arrangements of the World’s folk songs and children’s songs.
