Fivesparks welcomes sculptor Linda Hoffman for an exhibit, Darkness to Light, her response to the center’s invitation to exhibit during the month of December. The theme reminds us that even though the days are short, the light will return. In the ancient Chinese Yin Yang symbol, light is in darkness and darkness is in light; we can’t have one without the other. Darkness reveals the light, and light illumines the darkness.
Hoffman asked fellow sculptors, Anne Eder, Barbara Andros, her daughter, Ariel Matisse, as well as students of Eder’s at the Harvard [University] Ceramics Studio, Rachel Hadari, Inga Wisniewski, Trish Youens, Julie Nussbaum, and Adria Katz to respond to this theme and contribute work to the exhibit.
This exciting exhibit will feature both outdoor and indoor installations, ceramic, wire, and wood sculpture, textiles, and black and white photographs. In the Gallery will be works related to books, a reminder that this building was once the Harvard’s Public Library, and now serves the public again with offerings of art.
