The beloved third movement of his Op. 132 String Quartet was written after he recovered from a long illness. In this work, Beethoven draws from the past, alternating austere chorale with joyful dance as he shares his perspectives into the relationship between the human and the divine, and between life and death. We’ll look at his use of intertextuality and compare performances as we explore meaning through music. Led by Judith Eissenberg.
