Poems in their Voices
Reading: 4:00pm / Reception: 5:00pm
Poet Georgia Sassen has titled her reading “Ancient and Contemporary Women of Harvard.” If this has you guessing, that’s good. The reading combines her imaginings of the lives and longings of Harvard women in centuries past with her irreverent and funny thoughts as a contemporary women of Harvard. She takes you into her contemporary musings – the natural world and the things it hopes to teach us, the dilemmas of animals and what they might say to us. And what the trees would say. All these make for an artful lively time.
Refreshments follow, giving you a chance to meet other Harvard arty types. The time Sassen spent researching Harvard history and writing the resulting poems was supported by a grant from the Harvard Cultural Council which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
