Join new Fivesparks instructor Michele Vitti in this feel-good class series!
In this introductory session we will be exploring mindfulness, using both meditation and visual art exercises as a vehicle for practicing present moment attention, an awareness that is open, curious, and non-judgmental.
There are many overlaps between the practices of mindfulness meditation and the creative process. Zen master Suzuki says, “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.” So, we will practice releasing our self-critic and our various forms of expertise to investigate staying present and accessible to the possibilities that can result from the experience of putting marks on paper.
NO art experience required! In fact, we won’t actually be “making art.” Our focus will be on mindfulness, and if something delightful happens on paper that will be a welcome bonus.
Please bring either a stack of printer paper or any kind of sketchpad at least 8.5×11″. You will also need drawing tools; bring whatever you have – pens, pencils, crayons, markers.
We are offering two chances to experience this introductory class. Saturday, September 30, 10-11:30am and Wednesday, October 25, 6:30-8pm. Appropriate for participants 18 yrs and up.
$35 for 1 session. REGISTER BELOW.
