An interplay between paintings by Harvard artist Colleen Pearce and poetry written by friend and former Harvard resident Didi Chadran.
The two conceived the creative collaboration over three years ago. To prepare for this exhibit, Chadran spent time sitting among Pearce’s paintings — both finished and unfinished — in her studio in ArtSpace Maynard. As poems — those responding to the paintings as well as others — began to take shape, he routinely shared them with Pearce, who in turn rendered the subjects of his writing in paint.
In their interrogation – of each other and of themselves – Didi Chadran and Colleen Pearce reveal worlds hidden in plain sight, the way that a photographer dissects with a macro lens, while evoking the call-and-response urgency of a jazz duet.
