In this class, we will seek inspiration from everyday objects and exalt them into beautiful artistic expressions. The focus will be on training your eye to compose scenes using shapes, forms and colors. We will develop composition skills, conduct focused studies, and experiment with different styles.
The outcome will be an overall improved skill set, confidence in your painting process and an increased joy of painting.
Materials needed: either acrylics or oil paints, canvases, palettes, brushes, and appropriate thinners, brush cleaners, containers
Gwen Leonard’s love of art drives her to share her experience and talent with others ensuring an enjoying, non-frustrating process in finding their own style in a medium of the student’s choice. Gwen studied at the Art Student’s League for over twenty years, focusing on life drawing, anatomy, print making, water color and oil painting. Her philosophy in teaching art is that everyone has their own style to find and develop and one can achieve that through believing in oneself, patience, and joy. Gwen helped launch the Plein Air painting program in 2019 for Fivesparks, which continues today.
