This Iyengar Yoga beginner series will be based on the beginner series Geeta Iyengar taught in Pune, India. By the end of six one hour long classes, you will leave with a strong foundation in Iyengar Yoga. Occasionally known to be referred to as ‘the yoga of paying attention,’ Iyengar Yoga places a strong emphasis on precise body alignment while maintaining a mindfulness to thoughts and breath. As the body learns to become steady, the mind will quiet, and the breath will be soft and smooth. Classes will be vigorous but accessible and adaptable for all body types, fun, playful, and explorative.
Props that will be provided: Two blocks, a belt, and three blankets. Please bring a mat if you have one. If you have any other props such as blocks or bolsters, you are welcome to bring these.
