Loose Folk

May 20, 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm EDT

$5

Loose Folk is a community musical event hosted by the HCC every second Sunday of the month. This recurring, relaxed jam is an opportunity for musicians and singers to gather in the beautiful Gallery to share songs, harmonies, and fun… loosely Folk Songs (hence the name). The group’s participants will ultimately determine what we play and sing without concern for strict boundaries.  We’ll pull chairs together in a circle (sorry, no campfire) and some key players can anchor the tunes.

Singer songwriters may also play a new song or two to showcase work in progress.  Acoustic instruments:  strings, woodwinds, light percussion, and portable electronic keyboards could also work.

Who’s Invited?  Anyone — from Harvard or elsewhere — who enjoys making a joyful sound or listening to others do so!  Invite musician friends to join the fun.

What about kids?  Families are welcome, but we can’t allow kids to roam the building unattended. Depending on turnout, we can explore the possibility of having a couple of sitters (paid by parent donations?) in the basement room to do arts and crafts or music with young ones, but that is not yet a reality.

Cost:  Suggested donation is $5/person.  All proceeds would go to the HCC, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization.

Refreshments:  The HCC has an Entertainment License from the Town of Harvard.  This allows patrons to bring their own wine or beer (no hard liquor) to pour for themselves (no bartenders allowed).  Participants can bring snacks as well.
