Fivesparks, in collaboration with the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, presents an interactive music event, showcasing Núria Comorera Nosàs, who was selected as one of two performers to bring music to the community for the second of two Midwinter Music events. The first event will be held Friday, February 19, at 7:30pm.
From the city of Barcelona, Spain, Núria Comorera Nosàs is a cellist currently completing the last semester of her Undergraduate Degree at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Núria began her studies in the United States at Manhattan School of Music in New York, NY. She has studied under the tutelage of Cristoforo Pestalozzi, Philippe Muller, and currently Rhonda Rider. Having begun playing the cello at the age of three, she has won several important competitions around Europe including the “Torneo Internacional de Musica” in Spain, as well as the Vic Cello Festival 2014, where she was awarded first prize and the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the National Orchestra of Catalunya. Núria has also been invited to play with prestigious orchestras, such as the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra in 2017 and 2018. In Barcelona Youth Orchestra’s 2015-2017 seasons, Núria has played as principal cellist for the ensemble. She has also had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses for renowned musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, Gary Hoffman, Maria Macedo, Lluís Claret, Steven Isserlis, and Peter Stumpf.
Núria is thrilled to be collaborating with pianist Claudia Valetta on the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and Gaspar Cassado for Fivesparks’ Midwinter Music Evenings, and is eager to be sharing music during these unprecedented times.
Claudia Valetta is an accomplished pianist from Barcelona, Spain. She started her music studies at the City Conservatory of Barcelona where she finished her pre-college studies in piano and chamber music with honors under Prof. Mireia Planas and Antoni Besses. In 2010, she was awarded her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, where she had studied under the guidance of Stanislav Pochekin. She later completed post-graduate studies under Prof. Pochekin. Interested in expanding her musical training, she received masterclasses from international renowned pianists such as Oxana Yablonskaya (Juilliard School, NY), Mikhail Voskressensky (Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow), Galina Egyazarova (Reina Sofía Music School in Madrid), Imre Rohman (Mozarteum University in Salzburg), István Gulyás (Liszt Academy in Budapest). Claudia has excelled in many renown competitions and concerts, such as the Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition in Lérida, Spain (1st prize), the San Sebastian International Competition (1st prize), the Concorso Pianistico Internazionale “Roma”, (3rd prize), and the “Ciutat de Carlet” International Piano Competition (1st prize).
She has performed under the direction of conductors such as Guerassim Voronkov, Nicola Samale, Manel Valdivieso and Daniel Antolí. She has premiered worldwide a new instrument called Diáphano (invented and built by the Barcelona-based luthier Xavier García) at the Palau Güell in Barcelona.
Since 2013 she serves as a piano faculty at the Liceu Conservatory Pre-College division, where she has been the Head of the Piano Department from 2016 to 2019. She has recently been appointed to the NYC Piano Academy faculty where she teaches students of all levels and ages.
