The Harvard Cultural Collaborative is excited to welcome back Rui Urayama and Jeremiah Barcus, a professional piano/cello duo who participated in our First Annual Harvard Music Festival back in June of 2018. As we contemplated opportunities for them to return to Harvard, we decided that we wanted the community to become part of a performance in some way.
So, in addition to the recital they will perform on the evening of Saturday, January 26 (more info available here), Rui and Jeremiah have agreed to host a workshop during which participants will explore the connection between music and visual arts. Using a variety of artistic media, participants will have the opportunity to visually express what they hear in the music being performed.
Every aspect of music can be an inspiration for producing art, and through personal interaction with these musicians during the workshop, you will learn about the musical selection, the composer’s inspiration, and how the piece may have inspired others in the past. Participants will also have the option to discuss with the group how the music inspired what they created, and also understand others’ creative interpretations.
When: Saturday, January 26, 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Where: UU Church Fellowship Building, 7 Elm Street, Harvard MA
Ages: 16+
Cost: $10
