Ann Gillespie is an award-winning artist in pastels and printmaking. Pastels have been her primary focus since 2012, with periodic forays in printmaking and other painting. She is passionate about landscape painting, especially painting “en plein air” which helps her observe color and light more directly and keeps her more connected to nature.
Ann has been teaching Pastel Painting at Fivesparks for several years. This class series will have a focus on local landscape inspiration. Basics will include use of underpainting, composition, color, values and mark-making. She will also help you consider your motivation for painting a scene to determine mood, what to leave in or out, and movement through a painting.
Each class will start with a demo followed by plenty of painting time and one-on-one feedback. All pastel levels are welcome but some previous drawing or painting experience is necessary.
