Please join the Warner Free Lecture Trust, in association with the Harvard Historical Society, as we welcome Lynne McKenney Lydick as she brings this inspirational woman to life in “Follow the Cannon: Clara Barton’s Civil War Letters.”

Clarissa Harlow Barton, Clara, born on Christmas Day, 1821, in North Oxford, Massachusetts, earned the name Angel of the Battlefield for her limitless courageous and unfailing spirit in bringing supplies to the battlefields of the Civil War.

Armed with medicinal supplies, clothing and food she saved the lives of countless soldiers on both sides who would have perished without her. With her phenomenal organizational skills, her determination to be of full use in the war, her boundless energy and perseverance, she gained the trust and respect of soldiers, battlefield surgeons, generals and politicians alike.

The presentation runs about 60 minutes, followed by Q&A and refreshments.
