“I began teaching in 1988. Yoga has had the opportunity to evolve dramatically with our increased understanding of how the body works. We have made amazing knowledge advances in our study of biomechanics, somatic movement, kinesiology, and physical therapy. I do not adhere to a traditional teaching approach and believe Yoga needs to evolve as our knowledge increases. I encourage fitting asana to our bodies, not taking our bodies and forcing them into an asana. Everyone has different movement patterns and I try to help individuals find what is specific to their bodies and help them gain a more balanced approach to habitual movements.”
What do people need for these classes? Ultimately? A yoga mat, two yoga blocks, a folding chair, bolster, access to a wall space, blanket and yoga strap.
In practice (for now…): a non-slip surface, chair, large supportive pillow, wall space, blanket and something to elongate your reach (dog leash, belt).
